The Golden State continues to lead the nation in organic farming with over three and a half billion dollars in certified organic commodity sales. That’s 32 percent of the nation’s total with the US selling more than $11 billion worth of certified organic commodities in 2021, according to numbers released by the National Agricultural Statistics Service. That includes all organic commodities like crops, livestock and poultry products such as eggs and milk, and livestock and poultry sales. Rounding out the top five states for organic sales are Washington, Pennsylvania, Texas, and Oregon.
