Thirty-one special rescue teams are on standby across California to help with flooding. One is based in Oakland and saved two people yesterday after their truck was swept away and landed in a riverbed. They used a ladder as a temporary bridge and support ropes to guide both men across the running water. Other teams are ready to do the same if needed as the parade of storms returns this weekend. Each task force consists of 16 members.
