Coalition Announced for Highway 37 Upgrades

Some major upgrades could be coming to the main east-west highway in the North Bay. On Wednesday, a coalition of state traffic and environmental agencies announced they will work together to redesign Highway 37. Improvements being discussed include adding new lanes in each direction to reduce traffic, and other fixes that would tackle chronic flooding issues. Some experts say, due to sea level rise, the entire road could be underwater in some spots within the next several decades if nothing is done. The 21-mile state highway sees an estimated 40-thousand vehicles each day. State Senator Bill Dodd of Napa calls the partnership a “significant milestone.”
