A former Graton resident who was mauled by a Sonoma County Sheriff’s Department K-9 is getting a one-point-three-five-million-dollar settlement. Jason Anglero-Wyrick, who was 35 at the time of the mauling, filed a federal civil rights lawsuit against Sonoma County and two Sheriff’s deputies. He was bit by the dog in April of 2020, after deputies stunned him with a taser. The deputies were called following reports claiming the man had pointed a gun at someone earlier in the day. No gun was ever found and no charges were filed against Anglero-Wyrick, who is black. Video of the incident went viral on the internet.
