Santa Rosa Considering Pedestrian Bridge Over SMART Tracks at Jennings Avenue

Should there be a pedestrian bridge built over SMART tracks in Santa Rosa? The City of Santa Rosa has a proposal for a overhead pedestrian bridge crossing over the SMART tracks on Jennings Avenue near Coddingtown Mall. A meeting will be held March 2nd at 6 PM at the Helen Lehman Elementary School’s multipurpose room, or you can join in virtually via Zoom. Currently, pedestrians have to cross at Guerneville Road, which amounts to a 15- to 20-minute detour. The city and SMART have been at odds with each over a solution to the tracks on Jennings Avenue. City officials previously wanted a a ground-level footpath but SMART objected saying it would be too much of a hazard.
