The Sonoma County Board of Supervisors is considering setting up managed encampments for homeless people. The secured and fenced camps would be at the Santa Rosa Veterans Memorial building and, on the county’s, administrative campus in the northern part of the city. Both properties are county-owned. If the proposal is approved, up to 100 tents could be spread across the parking lots of both locations. It’s the county’s latest attempt at finally getting rid of the unsanctioned homeless encampments that keep appearing along the Joe Rodota Trail in Santa Rosa. The Board of Supervisors has a special meeting scheduled for this morning where it will consider declaring a shelter crisis on a portion of the trail.
