California is joining 19 other states in a new battle for abortion rights. They’re pledging to work together in an historic alliance after the Supreme Court overturned the 1973 Roe v. Wade decision. Governor Gavin Newsom says they’ll stand “as a firewall to fight for and protect providers, patients, and all who are affected by these attacks on fundamental rights.” Other governors call it an issue of freedom, believing in a woman’s right to choose.
