Windsor is walking back a proposed ban on existing vacation rentals. The town council was previously considering banning existing, non-hosted short-term rental properties. Mayor Rosa Reynoza and Vice Mayor Sam Salmon want to crack down on vacation rentals citing increased housing prices. However, over 100 of these property owners spoke before the council last week, and several said their livelihoods were at stake. As a result, the council is directing staff to rewrite the proposal to allow these property owners to continue operating. If it had passed, the ban wouldn’t have closed these short-term rental properties immediately but allowed for a one year grace period.
