Man Who Shot Himself After Chase in Santa Rosa Identified

The Sonoma Sheriff’s office is identifying the man who shot himself after evading deputies last Friday. Fifty-six year-old Ronald Phillips was pursued by deputies after reports of gunfire in the 3300 block of Santa Rosa Avenue. Deputies found the suspected truck involved but Phillips refused to stop and a chase began. They went north on Highway 101 and ended up on Administration Drive after a deputy caused the truck to spin. When the truck came to a stop, Phillips shot himself. He was taken to a local hospital and died of his injuries that night. No shots were fired by deputies.
