An arson court case from Mendocino County will take place outside of the county. A judge has ruled that the suspect in the 2021 Hopkins fire, Devin Lamar Johnson, will be tried in Marin County. The reason for the change is that too many potential jurors in Mendocino County are familiar with the fire. It came down to Colusa County or Marin County for the change of venue, and Marin was picked. Sonoma County was ruled out as it was considered too close. All parties involved will meet Wednesday to schedule a trial which is expected to last two weeks.
