BERKELEY, CA -1 SEP 2017- View of the campus of the University of California, Berkeley.
Sonoma County is partnering with the University of California on two public research agreements. First, a 25-year license agreement allows UC to conduct research, scientific studies and educational activities on 56 acres of unused county-owned tidelands property near Gaffney Point at the entrance of Bodega Bay. All data collected from research, scientific studies, and educational activities at the tidelands will be available to the county upon request. The second is a five-year license agreement with the UC Master Gardener program for use of the vacant garden area and greenhouse building at the county’s Los Guilicos campus for garden propagation activities, educational workshops and plant sales to the public. The UC will also renovate and maintain the garden and greenhouse. No rent will be charged as the county sees the land’s use as a public benefit.
