A student in Sonoma Valley has been arrested for threatening school violence online. Last Thursday, the Sonoma Valley Unified School District alerted Sonoma Police of a school shooting threat posted on a social media site directed at Altimira Middle School. The sheriff’s office took over the investigation and worked to identify the person who posted it. Detectives identified the student and superintendent Dr. Elizabeth Kaufman contacted that student who admitted to making the threats. The student was arrested over the weekend and the threats were taken down. Detectives determined the student did not have access to any weapons to carry out the threats.
