Nearly 90 Sonoma County Jail inmates are no longer on a hunger strike. Authorities and family members say the inmates took part in the ten-day hunger strike to advocate for more time out of their cells, better visitation hours and cheaper commissary costs. The Sonoma County Sheriff’s Office confirms the hunger strike started on March 23rd and ended last Saturday. A spokesperson for the Sheriff’s Office says the inmates refused to take county-prepared food, but some still ate food they bought from the jail’s commissary. However, some chose not to eat at all during the ten days.
