Plans for a major expansion of the Graton Resort and Casino are getting clearer. The Federated Indians of Graton Rancheria want to double the size of the existing gaming floor, add up to three-thousand slot machines, another 200-plus hotel rooms, a large performance theater and a rooftop restaurant. Last month, the tribe announced it had reached a new gaming compact with Governor Gavin Newsom’s office. The deal paves the way for the expansion of the resort and casino just outside of Rohnert Park to take place that would make the hotel the largest lodging property in Sonoma County. The expansion itself will be one of the largest commercial building projects in Sonoma County in years. The tribe is still awaiting some final state and federal approvals.
