Santa Rosa Park project gets Tentative Approval from Key State Department

Plans to create a Central Park-like area in Santa Rosa are a bit closer to becoming reality. Survey maps for the Southeast Greenway project recently won tentative approval from the California Department of Transportation. Santa Rosa is now primed to acquire most of the property from the state, pending a few more state approvals. Plans to convert the 57-acre greenspace have been in the works for more than 13 years. If the plans work out, the area will feature community gardens where residents can grow their own produce, a natural open space, and walking and biking paths. The purchase would have to be done by October of 2024 because of timing constraints connected with the funding allocated to the project.
