Store surveillance footage presented in court shows no evidence that a couple from Petaluma tried to kidnap a woman’s two kids. Wednesday was the second day of testimony in the trial of Katie Sorenson, who is accused of lying about an abduction attempt at a Michael’s crafts store in December of 2020. Prosecutors say she did it to grow her social media following. The video shown in court shows the couple standing behind Sorenson in line at the store. Sorenson, a former Sonoma resident, claimed the man and woman followed her into the store. During his testimony, Ed Crosby, who was a Petaluma police lieutenant at the time, said they weren’t following anyone.
