The historic Main Street Bridge in Monte Rio is now fully closed to drivers. A single lane of the 70-year-old bridge was closed on March 29th, due to storm damage. But, in the time since, there have been reports of several fights breaking out between angry drivers. Monte Rio Fire Chief Steve Baxman says drivers were traveling on the single lane from opposite directions at the same time. That caused stalemates, traffic backups, and fights. One of the fights involved a driver using bug spray as a weapon. Sonoma County is now installing a temporary traffic signal at the bridge. It will be closed to all vehicle traffic in the meantime.
