Protesters are lashing out at Petaluma Valley Hospital and its owner Providence, after the decision to close its Family Birth Center. About 50 people gathered outside the hospital in protest on Monday night. Providence bought the hospital from the Petaluma Health Care District in 2020. The purchase agreement stated the birthing center had to stay open until at least 2025. Many of the protesters held signs, criticizing Providence for backing out of its agreement. Monday was the birth center’s final day of operation.
