A driver in a stolen car crashes in Cotati after leading deputies on a high speed chase. Early Tuesday morning, a Windsor deputy driving southbound on Highway 101 saw a car that matched the description of one that was carjacked and stolen in Vallejo. The driver sped away and the chase ended up in Cotati – that’s where officers used a spike strip after the driver tried to hit a CHP officer with the car. The driver then suddenly drove up the brake check off ramp on the Cotati grade, but lost control and hit a parked car with two people inside. They suffered minor injuries. The driver, Ernesto Samuel Esquivel, was arrested after the crash and taken to a local hospital to be treated for non-life threatening injuries. Officers found a bunch of stolen mail, most of it from the Dry Creek area of Healdsburg and Geyserville.
