Three Animal Rights Activists Arrested Outside Petaluma Still Don’t Have Trial Date

Animal rights activists arrested over four years ago at a demonstration near Petaluma still don’t have a trial date. Wayne Hsiung, Cassandra King and Priya Sawhney were in court Monday for a hearing in Santa Rosa to set a trial date. However, that has now been postponed to May 30th so that King may get a new lawyer. Her previous one was only retained through their preliminary hearing which wrapped up in February. The three are accused of taking chickens and ducks from poultry and duck farms near Petaluma in 2018 and 2019. Court schedulings, delays, and the pandemic have stretched out proceedings for this case.
