Dozens of mothers and grandmothers gathered in downtown Petaluma for gun control. Organized by Moms Demand Action, they gathered Saturday calling for federal lawmakers to ban the sale of assault weapons. It was a peaceful demonstration, although one man threw coins at the group, calling it “Bloomberg Money.” The man told the Press Democrat his first name was Sam, but did not provide a last name. Police were called but Sam was not cited or arrested. Moms Demand Action is part of Everytown for Gun Safety, a nonprofit organization financed by billionaire Michael Bloomberg. Over 200 towns took part across the country with over 9,000 mothers and grandmothers participating. Nearly 650 children in the US have been killed by gun violence in 2023 so far.
