Rohnert Park City Councilwoman Jackie Elward is running for state senate. The 44-year-old joins two other Democrats vying to replace Bill Dodd of Napa. Dodd will be termed out of his District Three seat at the end of 2024. The third district stretches between Sonoma and Sacramento Counties. It includes all or part of Contra Costa, Napa, Sacramento, Solano and Yolo Counties. In Sonoma County, it includes Rohnert Park, Petaluma, Cotati and Sonoma. Elward calls herself a “practical progressive.”
