The North Bay is thinking ahead for the next drought. Marin and Sonoma counties have put together a report of how farmers were able to deal with the drought from 2019 to 2022. Highlights include recognition and planning for the winter of 2019, beginning the Marin-Sonoma drought collaboration, on-farm water management through cost-share and technical assistance programs, and minimum water allocation techniques. Sonoma County Supervisor David Rabbitt praised the report saying “Documenting our experiences with climate emergencies will allow us continue to improve service and become more resilient during future droughts and times of crisis.”
