A Santa Rosa-based bookkeeper has been arrested for embezzling over $100,000. The Sonoma County Sheriff’s office says that they were contacted back in January by the owner of a local construction company saying that his bookkeeper, 55-year-old Wendy Bickford, had embezzled $5,700 dollars. Bickford apologized and promised to return the money. The victim then looked into his books further, and found that Bickford had embezzled over $140,000 between 2016 to 2022. Detectives found that Bickford had written checks to herself, written checks to cash, and paid for various personal bills. Bickford was arrested for felony embezzlement, felony grand theft, and felony fiduciary abuse.
