The Town of Windsor has over $2-million available for in-town affordable housing developments. Windsor’s Inclusionary Housing Fund is used both to help preserve existing affordable housing units and to create new ones. Funding for it comes from the town’s inclusionary housing ordinance requiring developers of market rate housing to either build affordable housing units or pay in-lieu fees to the town. Projects which could get funding include both rentals and permanent affordable housing; land that would be developed for affordable housing; and transitional or emergency housing and homeless shelters. The funds could also be used to preserve at-risk assisted housing and housing for people who are homeless, disabled, veterans or seniors. Applications for this round of funding are due June 27th.
