Governor Newsom believes Florida Governor Ron DeSantis is involved in sending migrants to the Golden State. Two private planes carrying sixteen migrants from South America were flown to Sacramento. The migrants were dropped off in front of the Diocese of Sacramento on Friday night. Then, on Monday, another group of 20 migrants arrived after being driven from Texas to New Mexico. The California Department of Justice says the two flights had similar flight patterns and both groups of migrants were carrying documents issued by the state of Florida. On Monday, Newsom called DeSantis a “small, pathetic man” and threatened to file kidnapping charges. California Attorney General Rob Bonta also confirms his office is exploring several different criminal charges.
