Sonoma County and a group of volunteers are teaming up to build a first-of-its-kind radio tower just east of Cloverdale. It will be the county’s first ever public-private communications tower. The solar-powered tower will have fire cameras, radio service, and a fail-safe digital communications network. It will also include a weather station that can measure meteorological conditions like wind speed and report it in real time. The fire cameras were installed last week and cover Sonoma County from Windsor to the Mendocino County border up north.
