The Sonoma County Fire District will now be in charge of the county’s ambulance services. On Tuesday, the Sonoma County Board of Supervisors agreed to award the exclusive contract to the fire district. American Medical Response, known locally as Sonoma Life Support, had the contract for 30 years. AMR has claimed the bidding process was influenced by conflicts of interest and favoritism. It’s planning to challenge the decision in court. The county’s Department of Health Services previously recommended awarding the ambulance contract to the Sonoma County Fire District.
