Santa Rosa officials are considering a long-term extension for the city’s safe parking program. During its first year, the program provided a safe place to stay for 148 people living in their vehicles. The program, operated by Catholic Charities, has been running out of a city-owned parking lot in west Santa Rosa since March of 2022. Its 50 parking spots and onsite services cost nearly one-point-three-million-dollars per year to operate. For now, the city has approved the funding to keep it going through next June.
