Sonoma County is filing a counter lawsuit against private ambulance company giant American Medical Response. AMR, known locally as Sonoma Life Support, recently lost a bid to renew its exclusive contract for the county’s ambulance services, which it had for 30 years. AMR filed a lawsuit, claiming the bidding process was skewed in favor of the Sonoma County Fire District. The county’s new lawsuit accuses the company of failing to meet response times and putting up other poor performance metrics, then refusing to pay penalties for that poor performance. Both sides are claiming the other breached its contract.
