Russian River Rubber Dam Begins to Inflate

The Sonoma County Water Agency has begun inflating its seasonal rubber dam on the Russian River near Wohler Bridge in Forestville. Despite heavy rains this winter and spring, river flow has decreased to the point where the dam needs to be inflated, a process which usually takes about 14 days total. The dam helps to recharge aquifers and increases capacity at collector wells, benefiting over 600,000 people in Sonoma and North Marin counties.
