Santa Rosa has Seen Over 40 Inches of Rainfall This Water Year

Sonoma County’s Water Agency has released the rainfall total so far for Santa Rosa during the current water year. To no one’s surprise, the numbers are up. KSRO News spoke with meteorologist Sean Miller at the National Weather Service.

“That means throughout the water year, dating back to last fall, we are well above average in terms of precipitation. A lot of that precipitation that we saw actually fell over the winter into the early spring as we saw a series of strong atmospheric rivers impacting our area.”

The water year runs from October 1st through September 30th. An average water year dating back to 1950 is about 30 inches total, and Santa Rosa has already received over 41 inches during the current water year.
