A Santa Rosa mobile home couple are filing a federal housing discrimination lawsuit to prevent eviction. Press Democrat reports that Eduardo Escamilla began having heart problems since 2021 and failed kidneys the following summer. In the midst of all this, Escamilla and his wife, Luisa Cordero, failed to finish the permitting process and get a final inspection for repairs and improvements they did on their mobile home. They now face eviction from Sunset mobile home park, getting a 60-day notice in April. They’ve now filed a federal housing discrimination lawsuit alleging the owners, Echelon Communities, have not been accommodating to Escamilla’s health disability. Like many, the couple do own their mobile home but rent the land from Echelon.
