Four dogs are recovering after being pulled from a burning vehicle in Petaluma which killed their owner. On June 18th, a homeless woman parked in an SUV at the 400 block of E Street lit herself on fire after refusing to communicate with officers nearby. Police broke the windows and were able to get the woman, Ember Leona, and her four dachshunds out. Leona succumbed to her injuries a couple of days later. Three of the dachshunds suffered burns and are recovering. One named Odin has been receiving around the clock care while NuNu and LoLo are recovering in foster care. A fourth dog named Thorina was not injured and was given to one of Leona’s family members.
