CSU Students Not Happy with Rising Tuition

Plans to increase tuition within the California State University system are not going over well with students. A group of CSU students, faculty and staff members met with Lieutenant Governor Eleni Kounalakis at Cal State Los Angeles last week to protest the proposed tuition hike. Under the current plan, tuition for CSU students would go up six percent each year over the next five years. Supporters say the increase is needed to help the system bridge a one-point-five-billion dollar budget gap. Students say its already hard to pay for school and these budget woes shouldn’t be solved by placing more hardships on students. The full board of CSU trustees could vote on the proposal in September.
