The Koi Nation of Northern California is suing to prevent the building of a sports complex in Lake County. They filed a complaint last month claiming the Burns Valley Sports Project between Burns Valley Road and Olympic Drive needs a full environmental review under the California Environmental Quality Act. They also cite the cultural significance of the land noting it as a gathering place for their ancestors. Clearlake leaders disagree with the complaint saying that they have put measures in place to protect known Native American Artifacts on the twenty-five-and-a-half-acre parcel. The project calls for a full-size baseball field, two smaller Little League fields, two tee-ball fields and a full-size soccer field. There are also plans for a large recreation center, concession stand, public works building, and a storage yard.
