Former Cardinal New Student Suing School Over Discrimination and Retaliation

A former Cardinal Newman High School student is suing the school and campus leaders, claiming discrimination and retaliation. The student was kicked off the football team then expelled from the school earlier this year. He says campus leaders did it to retaliate against him for speaking out about racist and discriminatory comments he and other football players of color endured at the hands of the head coach. The 17-year-old boy, who is Black, says Cardinal Newman High School failed to supervise head coach Richard Sanchez. He also says it failed to protect him from bullying, harassment, and racism.
