A record number of California resident students will attend a UC school this fall. The University of California is also announcing its largest class of under-represented freshmen in system history. The incoming Fall 2023 freshman class is made up of over 37-percent Chicano and Latino students, the largest under-represented group. Other demographics include Asian American admits at 34-percent, white students comprise 19-percent of the incoming freshman class. And African American students make up five-point-five percent of admits. In total, the number of incoming freshman from under-represented groups increased by nearly 15-hundred students, or four-percent, over 2022 data.
