Gay Man Accuses Sonoma County Sheriff’s Office of Mishandling Assault Case in Guerneville

A gay man from San Francisco has filed a complaint connected with the handling of his assault in Guerneville. The Press Democrat reports that Isaac Featherston was staying at a Guerneville hotel on April 9th when he met a man at McT’s Bullpen who was straight. They eventually went back to Featherston’s hotel room for a nightcap. Featherston says that one of the drinks he had was likely drugged because he blacked out. That’s when the man, calling himself Jordy, brutally assaulted him and threatened to kill him. Featherston was able to escape and called 911 from another couple’s room. No arrests have been made since the incident, despite video surveillance of the man. Featherston filed a complaint against the Sonoma County Sheriff’s Office alleging he experienced discourtesy, neglect and bias-based policing. The deputy named in the complaint, Joseph Nouguier, wrote in his report that Featherston had difficulty forming clear thoughts and smelled of alcohol. He classified the case as a misdemeanor “simple assault.”
