Sonoma County Board of Supervisors Meeting Gets Hijacked by Hate Speech Online

Hate speech hijacked this week’s Sonoma County Board of Supervisors Meeting. Tuesday’s meeting on Zoom was taken over by a series of racist and antisemitic callers during public comment and the late portion of the meeting. Many disguised their intentions seeking to speak on specific issues only to go into a racist tirade. Board Chair Chris Coursey called it “the worst I’ve had to deal with in my time on boards.” The Board is now considering several options to address this in the future from ending virtual participation from the public to capturing calls on tape and reviewing them quickly before playing them.
