Clare Hartman, the now-former top official for land-use planning and economic development in Santa Rosa is speaking out. In an email to the Press Democrat on Wednesday, Hartman called the job “an absolute pleasure,” but did not say what led to her departure, which was announced late Monday. The city hasn’t given a reason either. Hartman worked for the city for 24 years. She was head of the planning and economic development department since February of 2022. Some city councilmembers say they did not know Hartman would be out of the job until it was announced.
