Kaiser Healthcare Workers Prepared for Possible Strike Starting October 4th

Thousands of healthcare workers say they are prepared to strike if they can’t reach an agreement with Oakland-based Kaiser Permanente. The possible work stoppage involving 75-thousand Kaiser employees could be the largest healthcare worker strike in history, and the impact would be far reaching. Staffing shortages and a boost in pay are the main issues that need settling. A vast majority of union members voted in favor of a strike last weekend. Employees have authorized a three-day strike starting October 4th if a deal is not reached. Negotiations are set for Thursday and Friday.
