New Protection Plan for Bikes and Pedestrians Approved in Napa Valley

A plan to protect bicyclists and pedestrians in the Napa Valley has been approved, just days after a deadly incident that killed two cyclists. On Wednesday, the Napa Valley Transportation Authority passed its Vision Zero plan, touting it will prevent all future traffic deaths. In it is an update to add bike lanes, traffic signals, crossing beacons and pedestrian medians along with adding four way stops and roundabouts, improving signal timing and installing pavement markers to divide lanes. This would include adding a roundabout to the intersection near where a Portland, Oregon couple were killed on Tuesday by shifting lumber on the back of a flatbed truck.
