A man has been sentenced to 25 years to life in prison for shooting his father to death in Monte Rio. Thirty-two-year-old Francisco Gonzalez received his sentence yesterday as family watched in the courtroom. The full sentence is 15 years to life for second degree murder and 10 years to life for a firearm enhancement. Gonzalez is also being ordered to pay $7,500 to the compensation board. Prosecutors say Gonzalez shot his father, Rufino Gonzalez, multiple times in March of 2022. Last month, Gonzalez pleaded no contest to the murder charge and admitted to the enhancement.
