Doctor Tanya Phares is going to be Sonoma County’s new health officer. Phares, an internal medicine physician and health care executive from Reno, was appointed by the Sonoma County Board of Supervisors on Tuesday. She will replace Doctor Karen Smith, who has been interim health officer since August. Phares’ first official day on the job is next Tuesday.
