California’s largest health care provider and its healthcare workers are agreeing to a multi-year contract. Kaiser Permanente and the unions representing 85 thousand workers nationwide are finalizing a four year deal. The pact was overwhelmingly approved also by employees in six other states and the District of Columbia. Union heads say this is. more than just a contract. They say the agreement signals what they call a new day for frontline health care workers and for patient safety. It includes a 21 percent raise retroactive to October 1st. In a statement Kaiser says the agreement also addresses other top priorities such as staffing, additional opportunities for employee education and career development.
