A homeless man has been arrested after stealing a truck in Petaluma. On Friday night, a Petaluma resident reported that his truck was stolen with his dog inside. A countywide alert was given out to law enforcement and a Santa Rosa police officer spotted the truck on Highway 101 going north a short while later. The truck didn’t stop and a chase ensued which led into Petaluma and then back onto Highway 101 south. A spike strip was then deployed which punctured the truck’s tires. The vehicle stopped just south of the Old Redwood Highway overpass and the driver, 50-year-old Michael Carter Bailey, was arrested without any further trouble. The dog was unharmed and both the truck and the dog were returned to the owner.
