Will we have fresh dungeness crab for Thanksgiving ever again? Last Friday, the California Department of Fish and Wildlife have once again delayed the start of commercial dungeness crab season due to the risk of marine life getting entangled in the gear used for crabbing. The season won’t open sooner than December 7th when state officials will make their next assessment. There are a few zones along the California coast where recreational fishers can use traps like the Mendocino County Coast. However, it’s still prohibited for Sonoma and Marin County coastal areas.
