CHP Face Staffing Shortage As 112 New Officers Graduate

Efforts are underway to solve the California Highway Patrol’s staffing shortage. A new class of 112 officers just graduated and will hit the roads this week. It’s a small dent in filling about one-thousand positions. That recruiting started last year after the academy had to shut down during the pandemic. The CHP says it has about 350 cadets in the pipeline but needs to hire a lot more to be fully staffed.
