Future Running of the Los Guilicos Housing Site Up in the Air

There is confusion regarding the future of a Sonoma County managed homeless site. St. Vincent de Paul currently runs a 60-bed  transitional housing site at Los Guilicos Village near Oakmont. Its executive director, Jack Tibbetts, says county officials misled his group into thinking it had submitted a bid to continue running the site when in fact it had not. Tibbetts is now asking the Board of Supervisors to intervene, sending over emails and text messages showing their exchanges with the county. The Press Democrat reports that Sonoma County Department of Health Services Director Tina Rivera said her team encouraged St. Vincent de Paul to bid for the contract and was surprised when the organization didn’t. Additionally, Tibbets says Rivera tried to significantly change wording in a contract on a project already completed but not paid for. Supervisors have agreed to an extension keeping St. Vincent de Paul on site until at least January 31st with an option through March 31st next year.
